The Story of B2K
B2K (short for Boys of the New Millennium) was a trailblazing American R&B boyband that dominated the early 2000s music scene. Formed in Los Angeles, the group consisted of Omarion, Lil' Fizz, Raz-B, and J-Boog. Discovered by manager Chris Stokes in 2001, the quartet quickly moved from opening for Lil Bow Wow to becoming headliners in their own right, defining the "Scream Tour" era with their high-energy choreography and smooth vocal harmonies.
Their commercial peak arrived in late 2002 with the release of their second album, Pandemonium!. The lead single, "Bump, Bump, Bump," a collaboration with P. Diddy, reached Number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became a global club anthem. The group’s popularity transcended music when they starred in the 2004 cult classic dance film "You Got Served", which debuted at Number 1 at the box office. However, at the height of their fame in 2004, the group announced a shocking split due to internal disagreements and financial disputes with management.
After fifteen years apart, B2K delighted fans by reuniting in 2019 for the massively successful "The Millennium Tour." While the tour was one of the highest-grossing nostalgia tours of the decade, it was also marred by public interpersonal drama, leading to a permanent second split. As of 2026, Omarion continues to enjoy a prolific solo career, while the other members have remained in the spotlight through reality television and independent music projects.
Despite their tumultuous history, B2K’s influence on modern R&B and the "urban boyband" blueprint remains undeniable. They bridged the gap between the vocal groups of the 90s and the performance-driven acts of the late 2000s, leaving behind a legacy of platinum hits and iconic dance moves that continue to be celebrated by R&B fans worldwide.
