The Story of Caught In The Act
Caught In The Act (CITA) is an influential Dutch-English boyband that became a definitive pop sensation in Central Europe during the 1990s. Founded in 1992 by Cees van Leeuwen, the group featured a unique international blend: Eloy de Jong and Bastiaan Ragas from the Netherlands, and Lee Baxter and Benjamin Boyce from the United Kingdom. While they initially struggled for domestic recognition, their appearance in the German soap opera Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten in 1994 sparked "CITA-mania" across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
Their commercial peak saw them release three high-charting studio albums, with Forever Friends reaching Number 2 on the German charts. Anthems like "Love Is Everywhere" and "Don't Walk Away" dominated the airwaves, making them staples of Bravo magazine and television specials. After selling millions of records, the group disbanded in 1998 with the solo-concept album Solo 4 C.I.T.A., allowing each member to explore individual artistic paths.
The group made a triumphant return on New Year's Eve 2015, performing before a massive crowd at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. While Benjamin Boyce chose to remain focused on his solo career, the trio of Eloy, Bastiaan, and Lee released the comeback album Back for Love (2016). This reunion era successfully tapped into the nostalgia of their original fans while introducing their timeless pop sound to a new generation.
Now in 2026, the members of Caught In The Act have evolved into seasoned entertainment veterans. Eloy de Jong has become one of Germany’s most successful Schlager solo artists, consistently topping the charts. Bastiaan Ragas is a celebrated media personality and actor in the Netherlands, while Lee Baxter continues to pursue music and acting projects from the UK. Though they often focus on solo ventures, CITA remains a beloved icon of the European boyband era, occasionally reuniting for special festival performances that prove "Love Is Everywhere" truly is a timeless sentiment.
