The Story of Blue
Blue are one of the United Kingdom's most successful R&B-influenced pop groups, defined by their soulful harmonies and incredible chart longevity. Formed in London in 2000, the quartet—Antony Costa, Duncan James, Lee Ryan, and Simon Webbe—burst onto the scene with their debut single "All Rise." Their first three studio albums, All Rise (2001), One Love (2002), and Guilty (2003), all reached Number 1 on the UK charts, a feat that solidified them as pop royalty during the new millennium.
The group was notable for their high-profile collaborations, recording with legends like Elton John for their chart-topping cover of "Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word" and Stevie Wonder. After a hugely successful first era, the band disbanded in 2005 to pursue solo projects. However, the bond between the members remained strong, leading to an official reunion in 2011 when they represented the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest with the anthem "I Can." This comeback was further cemented by their participation in The Big Reunion and the release of their fourth and fifth albums, Roulette and Colours.
In recent years, Blue has enjoyed a massive resurgence. They celebrated their 20th anniversary with the Heart & Soul album and a sold-out arena tour across the UK and Europe. Their ability to transition from teen idols to respected adult contemporary artists has allowed them to maintain a massive global fan base. As of 2026, the four members continue to balance successful individual careers in television, theater, and music while regularly performing together for thousands of fans.
With over 15 million records sold worldwide and a catalog of iconic hits, Blue remains a pillar of the British boyband movement. Their legacy is characterized by high-quality production, genuine vocal talent, and a brotherly connection that has survived over two decades in the spotlight, proving that their sound is truly timeless.
