The Story of Big Time Rush
Big Time Rush is an American pop boyband formed in 2009 in Los Angeles, California. The group consists of Kendall Schmidt, James Maslow, Logan Henderson, and Carlos PenaVega. They were originally created as part of the Nickelodeon television series of the same name, which followed four friends from Minnesota who become a global music sensation.
What began as a TV concept quickly transformed into a real-world music career. The group signed with Nickelodeon/Columbia Records and began releasing music while starring in their hit series, which ran from 2009 to 2013. Their early sound blended catchy pop hooks with light pop-rock influences, designed to appeal to a wide teen audience.
Their debut album BTR (2010) included breakout tracks like "Boyfriend" and "Til I Forget About You", helping them quickly gain international popularity. The album was followed by Elevate (2011) and 24/Seven (2013), each expanding their sound and solidifying their global fanbase.
During their original run, Big Time Rush became one of the defining boybands of the early 2010s, touring worldwide and building a strong fan community known as “Rushers.” After the show ended, the group went on hiatus in 2014 as members pursued solo projects in acting and music.
In 2021, Big Time Rush officially reunited, surprising fans with a new era that included live shows, festival appearances, and new music. Their comeback proved their lasting popularity, with nostalgic audiences and a new generation of fans embracing their return.
Today, Big Time Rush continues to perform and release music, balancing nostalgia with a refreshed modern pop sound while celebrating their legacy as one of the most successful TV-created boybands in music history.
